First Meeting of 2012-2013 School Year

Post date: Sep 08, 2012 1:25:57 PM

Our first meeting of the year will be on September 12th at the University of Michigan, Dearborn. It is going to be one not to miss. We will have a special guest speaker, Fred Goldberg. This really is a great opportunity for us Dr. Goldberg has been a leader in physics education research for the last 20 years. In 2003 he was awarded the Robert A. Millikan Award from the American Association of Physics Teachers. This award is given to a teacher who has made notable and creative contributions to the teaching of physics. Dr. Goldberg has been the Project Director for, among others, Constructing Physics Understanding in a Computer-Supported Learning Environment (CPU Project).

We will also have some time to discuss current physics education research and share first semester demos and labs. As usual, if you have anything cool you want to share on any physics subject you should feel free to bring it along.

The location/meeting room has been changed to accomodate more people.

We will meet in Rm 119 at the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC on the UMich campus map, http://www.umd.umich.edu/maps_directions ).  Public parking is available in the parking structure adjacent to the EIC.

We will have dinner starting at 6:00, with them meeting starting at 7:00. Please rsvp to rsvp@dmapt.org so we can get an idea about how much food to get.
