This is just to inform you that there will be a modeling workshop for
mechanics this summer in Royal Oak, MI. The workshop will run
weekdays from 8am - 4pm June 24-July 15 (no class on July 5). The
cost will be only $70 for the 3 weeks (thanks to Oakland ISD, Macomb
ISD and Wayne RESA). SB-CEUs and/or graduate credits will be
available for an additional fee. This workshop is appropriate for
both newer and veteran teachers--basically anyone who is interested in
learning about the modeling approach to teaching. (To read more about
what "modeling" is: visit Arizona State's website:
http://modeling.asu.edu)
Don Pata (Grosse Pointe North High School) will be the lead presenter
for the workshop and I will be assisting him. For those of you who do
not know Don, he is a very experienced modeler who has presented at
several local and national conferences. He also co-developed the
Physics of Cell Phones and Wireless Devices curriculum with Mark
Davids and Rick Forrest.
If you are interested in applying for this workshop, please read the
attached flier and application for more details. Please complete the
application using Word and email it to Mike Gallagher
(Mike.Gallagher@oakland.k12.mi.us) by April 10th.
If you think you may need help finding housing for this time period,
you may contact me (lritter77@gmail.com). We will not be able to
cover the cost, but if enough people think they may need a hotel room,
we may be able to get a discounted rate somewhere.
Have a great weekend! (Stay tuned for the info about the next DMAPT meeting!)
